Drew Eberly hired me to create the artwork and graphic design for his newest album, Last Night at the Lounge.
This was a ton of fun. I started the process by simply listening to the record again and again and taking notes about the feelings of it. Drew and I met and talked about what he hoped for. After I had some concrete ideas developed we met again and zeroed in on the ideas behind the final design.
I was really thrilled that he picked this particular image (above) for the cover. It’s a photo I took in Hawaii in 2024. Talk about a place I never imagined I’d get to visit! We climbed up a trail to a (no longer in use) pillbox, a popular site for exploration. The ocean dominated the frame in every photo. Drew liked how this one is sort of a beach photo, but there’s no beach and no horizon.
